Recently, it was announced by Changzhou’s Inspection and Testing Standards Certification Research Institute that the “Ultra-Thin Fiberboard” Forestry Industry Standard, led by the institute, has been officially approved by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration. As China’s first dedicated technical specification for fiberboard products with a thickness of ≤1.5 mm, the standard will take effect on May 1.
The new standard systematically defines critical aspects, including terminology, technical specifications, and inspection protocols, providing a unified guideline for the production and circulation of fiberboard used as a buffering layer in surface materials. Its implementation fills a critical gap in the quality assessment system for ultra-thin fiberboards and is expected to drive industry-wide advancements toward lightweight and functional fiberboard applications.
During the drafting process, the institute conducted rigorous validation and verification to ensure the standard’s scientific robustness. Yao Jianlong, an engineer at the Environmental Chemistry Department of the Changzhou Institute, explained: “We spent 14 days conducting simulated verification tests on ultra-thin fiberboard samples of four different thicknesses.” Key elements such as sample preparation, testing methods, and inspection protocols were meticulously validated, ensuring the final technical specifications were data-driven and met the highest scientific standards.
This landmark standard marks a significant step forward in the field of ultra-thin fiberboard production and quality control, reinforcing Changzhou’s leadership in innovation and industry standards.
