The Qingming or Ching Ming festival, also known as Tomb-Sweeping Day in English, is a traditional festival dating back in Chinese history around 2,500 years. It falls on the first day of the fifth solar term of the traditional Chinese lunisolar calendar. This makes it the 15th day after the Spring Equinox, either 4th, 5th or 6th of April in a given year.

In 2020, the Qingming Festival falls on April 4. The public holiday for Qingming in China is from April 4 to 6, 2020.

During Qingming, Chinese families visit the tombs of their ancestors to clean the gravesites, pray to their ancestors, and make ritual offerings. The holiday recognizes the traditional reverence of one's ancestors in Chinese culture.

To avoid a large inflow of traffic at the cemeteries amid the COVID-19 outbreak, Changzhou announced an online appointment system on March 23, which allows people to apply for remote homage services via the Wechat public account of Changzhou Civil Affairs.
