Two projects in Changzhou have received the prestigious China Habitat Environment Exemplary Award from the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. These accolades have been bestowed upon the High-Speed Rail New Town's Green Livable Urban Area project and the Yonghong Sub-district’s Old Community Renovation project.

The High-Speed Rail New Town’s Green Livable Urban Area initiative broke ground in 2014 with a mission to craft a top-tier national and provincial-level green urban habitat. Guided by the principles of "dual carbon" and a strong emphasis on sustainability, this project encompasses a diverse array of high-quality green structures, including residential, office, and commercial spaces. Complemented by eco-friendly infrastructure such as sewage source heat pump district energy and comprehensive pipe corridors, this development harmonizes with the natural landscape, featuring lush green spaces and serene water bodies like the Xinlong Ecological Forest and Xinlong Lake. Serving as a blueprint for green, low-carbon urban expansion, it sets a high standard for enhancing living environments.

The Yonghong Sub-district’s old communities, erected during the 1980s and 1990s at the heart of the city, underwent a comprehensive transformation. Spanning six communities, 380 buildings, and housing 13,340 households across a vast area of 970,000 square meters, the renovation project commenced in 2021 and reached completion in November 2023. This endeavor encompassed landscape enhancements, bolstering municipal infrastructure, preserving cultural heritage, and revitalizing commercial spaces. Marking a paradigm shift in urban rejuvenation, it integrates green living, functional optimization, and activates cultural, sports, tourism, and commercial sectors. By breathing new life into existing urban landscapes, it invigorates urban vitality, spotlighting the enduring charm and livability of these old communities while offering valuable insights for urban renewal efforts.
