On the morning of October 15, Givaudan (Changzhou) Co., Ltd. held its opening ceremony. Hang Yong, vice mayor of Changzhou, and Olivier Zehnder, consul general of Switzerland in Shanghai, attended the event.
Hang Yong said in his speech that Givaudan Group boasts top-class business concepts and advanced technologies, with which Givaudan (Changzhou) will definitely achieve a sound and rapid development, injecting new impetus into Changzhou’s industrial transformation and upgrading. The governments of Changzhou at all levels will adhere to the concept of caring for and benefiting enterprises, and provide Givaudan with more efficient and convenient services. Changzhou aims to become a city with the best investment environment where the investors can achieve their goals.
Olivier Zehnder noted that this year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Switzerland. In the seven decades of diplomatic ties, the two countries have enjoyed long-term exchanges and cooperation, with remarkable results. There are over 1,000 Swiss-invested enterprises operating in China, which have demonstrated the Swiss quality and innovation, with a number of industrial leaders. Zehnder thanked Changzhou government for its support to Swiss-invested businesses. He said it was already his second visit to Changzhou this month, and that Changzhou has been his most frequently visited destination so far.
Givaudan is the global leader in the creation of flavours and fragrances. In 2019, the group’s sales revenue reached 6.7 billion US dollars. In 2016, Givaudan and Changzhou National High-Tech District (CND) signed an investment agreement to build a plant with an annual capacity of 38,000 tons of flavours and fragrances. The project, with a total investment of 150 million dollars, has a registered capital of 50 million. Upon completion, the Changzhou plant will become Givaudan’s largest and most advanced production center of fragrance for daily use in the Asian-Pacific region.
