In October, Changzhou’s consumer price index (CPI) rose 2.7% on a year-on-year basis, 0.1 percentage points higher than that of last month. Among them, food prices rose 5.9%, contributing 63% of the CPI. The increase is mainly due to climate, cost, etc.
However, the CPI fell 0.3% on a month-on-month basis. The prices of eight categories of consumer goods and services experienced "six ups and two downs", of which: the food prices leaped by 5.9%; the prices of household equipment and maintenance services increased by 3.1%; the prices of medical care and personal products rose 3.9%; the prices of transport and communications category increased by 0.8%, the prices of entertainment and educational products and services rose 1.6%; the prices of housing increased by 1.9%; the prices of alcoholic drinks and tobacco dropped by 0.7 percent; and the prices of clothing fell by 2.4%.
