Li Auto, one of China's leading electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers, has reported record-breaking sales of 500,508 vehicles in 2024. This achievement makes Li Auto the fastest luxury automotive brand in China to surpass 500,000 annual sales. December alone saw 58,500 vehicle deliveries, marking a 16.2% year-on-year growth. Since its debut in 2019, the company has delivered a total of 1.13 million vehicles, solidifying its leadership in the EV sector.
Changzhou, the birthplace of Li Auto’s first smart manufacturing base, has played a crucial role in the company’s success. In the first half of 2024, Li Auto accounted for 35.4% of Jiangsu province’s EV output, establishing itself as a leader in production volume. Looking ahead, the company plans to source 70% of its critical components locally by 2026, further strengthening the regional automotive supply chain.
Li Auto has also invested 1.6 billion yuan to upgrade its Changzhou facility, now renamed Li Auto Jiangsu. This transformation marks the company’s shift towards integrated operations across research, development, manufacturing, and sales under a unified framework.
At the Li Auto AI Talk 2024 event, Chairman and CEO Li Xiang unveiled the company’s vision of bridging the physical and digital worlds. "Our goal is to become a global leader in artificial intelligence (AI)," Li stated. "Lixiang Tongxue, our AI assistant, and Smart Driving, our autonomous technology, are the two flagship AI products powered by our proprietary Mind GPT model. This cognitive intelligence bridges the digital world, while our spatial intelligence, through autonomous driving, interacts with the physical world. We truly believe that integrating these two domains will unlock transformative opportunities."
In further demonstrating its AI capabilities, Li Auto expanded the reach of Lixiang Tongxue, which now extends beyond in-car systems to mobile devices. The official app was launched on December 27, 2024, providing users with seamless functionality across platforms.
